A pre-race downpour and the threat of bluebottles didn’t deter the 41 swimmers who took on the full course, or the 20 short course swimmers, who covered about 1600m.
Terry Bone was unchallenged to win the long course, while Kate Alexander put on a wetsuit to frighten the sea life and rocketed round the course to take second from Fraser Hill and Jody Laing.
Christina Harris was delighted to take the second women’s spot from Lilly Claridge, putting it down to knowledge of the various currents.
Sophie Pahl was a clear winner of the short course from Ara Wyatt, Phoebe Diamond and Roger Matheson.
