Village Cycle Sprint Triathlon (New) Club Champs
Get ready to race in the Club Championships! This event is perfect for serious triathletes looking for a competitive edge and newcomers eager to join the fun. Choose your preferred race distance and discipline, and experience the thrill of competing for medals in your category—exclusively for Nelson Triathlon & Multisport club members. Non-club members can still race but will not be eligible for medals. You don’t have to be a club member to participate, but if you join, you can compete in the Club Champs and enjoy discounted race entry. Not a member? No worries! You can join the club to compete in the Championships and start enjoying the benefits today!
Race Day Schedule:
- 8:00AM Check-in and bike racking opens
- 8:45AM Check-in closes (not late entries or check-ins after this time)
- 8:50AM Race briefing (ALL competitors MUST attend the race briefing!)
- 9:00AM Race Start
Following the race, join us for a free barbecue for all competitors and a small prizegiving, for the Club Champs, with spot prizes.
Race Options:
- Long Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km road bike, 5km run
- Short Triathlon: 250m swim, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
- Long Duathlon: 5km run. 20km road bike, 2.5km run
- Short Duathlon: 2.5km run, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
- Long Multisport: 3km kayak, 20km road bike, 5km run
- Short Multisport: 1.5km kayak, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
- The swim will be set on a flat triangular course, with the 250m course just taking in the base of the triangle.
- The bike will be a straight flat road bike course.
- The run is on a 2.5km loop, mostly sealed, but with an unsealed section along the old road above the beach.
Club Championship Categories
The Club Championships are held across all three disciplines—Triathlon, Duathlon,and Multisport. While all are welcome to participate, only Nelson Triathlon & Multisport Club members can compete for medals in the following categories:
- U16: Short Courses – Club Champs
- U19: Short Courses – Club Champs
- U40 Open: Long Courses – Club Champs
- 40+: Long Courses – Club Champs
Club members must select the appropriate category during registration to compete in the Club Championships.
Payment Options :
- Pay online Adult or Team non-member ($30) -select this option to pay online either single adult entry or team entry.
- Pay online Adult Tri Club member ($20) -select this option to pay online and receive the club discount, must be a Nelson Tri Club member.
- Pay online Student U18 non-member ($15) -select this option to pay online and receive School Student (U18) discount.
- Pay online Student U18 Tri Club member ($10) -select this option to pay online and receive the U18 School Student club discount, must be a Nelson Tri Club member.
- Pay at event (bring cash on the day of race) -select this option to pay cash on the day of the race. No discounts for this option.
Note to encourage pre-race entries, race day entries will attract a 50% extra penalty and no discounts apply. If you’re uncertain about whether to compete and wish to avoid the late entry penalty, please enter online, selecting ‘Pay at Event‘ under the Payment option. Should you not compete, no charge will be made.
Note: Nelson Triathlon Club has a NO REFUND policy on club events.

- Drafting will be allowed on the bike leg. Participants are asked not to use aero bars if they find themselves in a drafting situation and should not attempt to draft if they are unfamiliar with the skills required.
- The course is not closed to traffic. It is the participants’ responsibility to keep left and ride single file unless passing.
- Entrants under 18 take part at their parent’s/guardian’s discretion.
- It is the participants’ responsibility to make themselves aware of the race rules; the racecourses; to attend the compulsory race briefing and to participate in a safe and responsible manner.
