Conditions were near perfect, with a longish swim of just over 1500m across to the island via the dolphin.
Hayden Squance took a course to the right and led Luke Kelly, Oxford Bayley and Nic Hall as far as the second mark. The four came together with Luke and Oxford leading to the final offshore mark, when Luke kicked to lead Oxford by a second at the finish, with Nic and Hayden almost inseparable.
Christina Harris showed a quick recovery from her heroics at Taupo to outswim the women’s field, leading in Flossie Van Dyke and Wendy Healey.
