Port Nelson Sea Swims. Race two, November 14, 2019

TONIGHT’S SWIM IS CANCELLED

High winds, rough seas, a forecast of heavy rain in the hour between 5pm and 6pm and a pollution caution notice have all contributed to the decision to cancel.

This week it’s low tide at 5.39pm, so we’ll again face an incoming tide. The course will be much the same as last week, but just a little longer. The forecast isn’t that wonderful with wind and rain forecast.

In the event of a cancellation, we will endeavour to post a notice here and on the club Facebook page by 5.15pm Thursday.

Results, photos, points and story here on Thursday night. Check also The Nelson App on your mobile device, the website Sportzhub.com, The Nelson Weekly and The Waimea Weekly.

Just over three weeks until race one of the national Ocean Swim Series. The King of the Bays takes in a course between Milford and Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore. For details and to enter: oceanswim.co.nz

Speaking of the Ocean Swim series, a free entry to The Big Tahuna on March 7 will be drawn randomly from swimmers this week. The winner’s name will be published here after the swim.

Many of our sea swimmers excel in the pool as well. Following success at the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships and a training camp on Auckland’s North Shore, five of our swimmers have been selected to swim in the 2019 NSW Championships. Congratulations to Alec Swan, Bendi Kepess, Sierra Thomas, Abbey Smale and Isabella Thurlow, and good luck in Australia.
