Nice swim – testing, but not too much. Distance just under 1200m, Hayden Squance proved that it’s true you can beat the current by staying close to the shore. Hayden got the edge by doing that, gaining a lead at the first turn and never giving it up to take his first win of the season.

Coming up – Eyebright Mile, race two of the Clements Endurance Series, on this Sunday January 6 at 11am. As well as the 2km course from the yacht club to the beach, there’s a short option of 1400m from the Richardson St Steps.
