Rylock Series, race 10, January 16, 2025

There’s nothing certain about this year’s competition.

A low tide swim from the beach was never an attractive option, but it turned into a wonderful summer swim in warm, calm water.

If that was an unpredictable scenario, so were the results of race 10.

Mia Pugh is unbeaten in the women’s section this summer, but she went one further this week, taking the overall  win from Ben Marshall.

Bella Cain-Townley is a 15-year-old swimming and running superstar from Waimea College. In her first sea swim two weeks ago, she dominated the short course without a wetsuit. This week, she put on some rubber and held off series leader Terry Bone, taking third place overall from the honey-man, who lost the lead group in a sighting area as the field approached the sand bank staring into the setting sun.

Lilly Claridge was next, the third woman home, ahead of Jasper Sneddon, the third-placed male.

Here’s the results
