Marahau to Kaiteriteri swim, Saturday, March 10.
This is not a club swim but an independent event attracting swimmers from as far north as Leigh in Northland and a group from Timaru. Here’s some information from organiser Peter Gibbs.
If you’re planning to swim Marahau to Kaiteriteri on Saturday, a distance of just under 5km, and haven’t yet entered, please sign up tonight (no charge) – click here
A few people are swimming both ways, starting at Kaiteriteri 9am (at the northern end). This is an unofficial swim, not covered by the safety support of the main swim from Marahau, but we’ll attempt to send the odd boat that way if possible.
There’s also the option of swimming Breakers Bay to Kaiteriteri – about 1km. Briefing for this swim will be 11.30am on Breakers Bay beach, but you must come ready to swim (no extra gear to be taken back to the finish).
If you need a ride from Kaiteriteri, or if you can offer someone else a ride, please meet at the carpark at the northern end of Kaiteriteri Beach (by the boat ramp) at 9.30am. Please be at the carpark at the southern end of Marahau for event briefing at 10.30am. There will be a car travelling from Marahau to Kaiteriteri to take gear if swimmers need this. We’ll also endeavour to get swimmers back to Marahau after the race if this is needed.
