Rylock Series, race eight, January 2, 2025

Numbers down a bit, as many regular swimmers take a break elsewhere.

Lucas Bell took his second win of the season, edging out Ben Marshall, who is getting faster every week.

Tom Somerville was third, ahead of Australian triathlete Harry Lindbom, who saw a sign advertising the swim quite by accident when he was heading somewhere else.

Austen Dean and Jasper Sneddon led in Lilly Claridge, who was the first woman, ahead of Nia Linyard, Christina Harris and Keshia Linyard. The next two women to finish were sisters Charlotte, 15, and Catherine, 13, who were separated by one second.

In the short swim, series leader Roger Matheson got a shakeout from Bella Cain-Townley, who romped home ahead of Phoebe Diamond, with Roger happy to survive in third.

Here’s the results.
