A challenging swim over a 1km course with westerly winds whipping up some waves, particularly in the middle of the first leg from the yacht club to the dolphin channel marker.
Terry Bone set off as if he had a fire to put out and despite his best efforts Finn Bryant couldn’t reel him in.
Pool specialist William Seymour was next, ahead of Marcel Kepess and Eddie Swain.
Lilly Claridge was the first woman in, finishing sixth overall, 11 seconds ahead of the second woman, Nia Linyard.
Roger Matheson and Ara Wyatt continued their epic battle in the short course, with Roger sneaking in fjrst, two seconds ahead. It’s a small victory of age with Roger more than four times the age of Ara.
