Perfect conditions for a race of close to 1400m. Swimmers from AquaGym in Christchurch, here on their annual training week, made their presence felt, especially on the short race of about 800m.
In the long race, Louis Clark touched down fractionally before Ben Isles, winner of Sunday’s 5km race. Hayden Squance was in the sprint to the finish, taking third place.
The women’s podium was an all-Nelson affair, with Abbey Smale winning from Sam Harman and Emily Chadderton.
The short swim was an AquaGym whitewash, with Ollie Salt, Eli Wilson and Tiago Chamberlain first to finish. Skye Trist, Grace Henderson and Brianna Mackay of Nelson were the first three women.
We had two photographers at work – Pete Marshall and Kay Sneddon. Links to their photos are below.
