It was a perfect night for swimmers. Not so much for officials who had to stand around in the rain.
The tide was high, with little current flowing and there was no wind, so the sea was glassy.
The club showed off some new equipment – triangular buoys which were easily visible and combined to make a long-overdue start line, with the starter up on the deck. The new audio equipment made it easier to hear the race briefing too.
Hayden Squance had to work to triumph over Harrison Dean, while in a battle of 15-year-olds, Lilly Claridge narrowly edged out Emily Chadderton to lead the women’s race.
Nia Linyard won the short race over Charlotte Taylor, Billie Maskell and Patrick Avery.
