Jellyfish night! 129 swimmers – the most this season
There weren’t too many tactical manoeuvres at the front of the field, with the lead bunch dispersing across the channel from the start down to the first mark, which seemed a long way against the incoming tide. Harrison Dean and Fraser Neill are both former winners of the series. Harrison resumed this season after several years absence and it was Fraser’s first swim in the series for four years. As far more mature gents, they slugged it out at the front, leading in the much younger Josef Scott.
Making it a family affair, Austen Dean was fourth, ahead of Terry Bone and then Fraser’s father Hamish. More young chaps, Lucas Bell and Eddie Swain and then Emily Chadderton, consolidating her position on the table just one point behind Lilly Claridge, who didn’t swim tonight.
Nia Linyard (12) continues unbeaten in the short race, although Sally Rooney (11), in her first swim of the season, pushed her hard.
