Rylock swim series race seven, December 29, 2022

Beautiful night. We cruised across to the dolphin in perfect conditions, then to a buoy off Rocks Rd. Not a sign of the jolly jellies. The cunning devils waited until swimmers were within a couple of hundred metres of the finish before pouncing en masse. Few escaped the carnage. You would think Hayden Squance was going too fast to catch but the crafty beggars nabbed him on the ankle as he left the water.

There’ll be jelly celebrations in the harbour tonight.

For the record, Harrison Dean was eight seconds back in second place, followed by Josef Scott and Austen Dean, then the first woman, Lilly Claridge.

Emily Chadderton and Keshia Linyard were the next women to finish. Nia Linyard had a comfortable win in the short swim, remaining unbeaten this season, ahead of Charlotte Taylor, then Brett Ballard, the first male.

Thanks to Port Nelson and Rylock Windows and Doors for making it all possible.
