Port Nelson Schools Triathlon

What a wonderful day. Everything you want to know about the race will be here over the next couple of days. To get you started, here’s the results. It was a close-run thing in the points race for schools, with Waimea Intermediate winning by one point from Waimea College. Here’s the points table. Link to event photos by Janice Coyle …

Proper Crisps Team Tri

Despite all the damage at Rabbit Island and the confusion caused by the cancellation, the event was a great success for the small but perfectly formed field that took part. Although it wasn’t about winning, in the team tag event the Ruby Bay Racers (the Squance family) came in first, ahead of Little Big Boys (Wayne Leighton, Jobe McAuley and …

After day one of the two-day Coast to Coast, Flossie Van Dyke (pictured) leads the women’s field by five minutes, with the third placed woman another 43 minutes back. Elina Ussher and …

Port Nelson swim, February 8, 2018

What a great swim. If we get more high tide opportunities, this seems like a popular option – give us your thoughts. After a look at the tide tables, it doesn’t seem that there’s one suitable for another beach swim this season. We’ll definitely put some on the season for next year. We had 156 swimmers, in perfect conditions. Here’s …

Chia Teen Triathlon Training Team

Training started again on Monday, with a small group rousing themselves from school holidays to meet coach Britta Martin at Tahunanui Beach. After a short warmup on the playing field, the team moved on to the beach for an aquathlon workout – a run, followed by a swim, then another run. As always, the session ended with some nice cold …
