Challenging swim tonight, with a long slog south against a slight tide to a black boat away in the distance (although a couple of swimmers went around the white boat, cutting of a bit of the course).
Hayden Squance, Harrison Dean, Terry Bone and Hamish Neill did their normal quadruple act at the front of the field, while Lilly Claridge made what could be a decisive breakthrough in the series competition as she came in comfortably ahead of Emily Chadderton, who was under pressure from Keshia Linyard and Sophie Pahl.
In the short race, Nia Linyard also continued her winning streak, ahead of Charlotte Taylor, Keisha Old, Billie Maskell and Catherine Taylor.

Don’t forget Friday evening’s aquathon and the 3.8km swim on Sunday. Enter now if you haven’t already.
Here’s another event to put on your calendar. Sunday March 5, swim from Marahau to Kaiteriteri. This is not a race, just a 4.6km swim with (80 or so) friends. There’s also an option of Breaker Bay to Kaiteriteri – 1km. There’s no charge but you must sign up at https://forms.gle/ktwAQbs5LEgAehq6A
The Tasman harbour master will be in attendance, but organisers welcome all boat support – kayaks, launches, yachts etc. Get your boatie friends to come and support this fun swim past Apple Tree Rock, which could attract more than 80 swimmers, many from other parts of the country.
